Introducing Loom
A pop-up global strategy centre.
The world’s biggest challenges don’t fit into neat boxes.
Energy is about people’s lives and national security. Industry and technology is about a nation’s wealth and its sovereignty. Climate change is now about all of this, and how these issues impact the relationships between different countries and what people are prepared to support.
The old ways of thinking — climate experts over here, defence strategists over there, economists somewhere else, and public attitudes too often left as an afterthought — no longer work.
Loom is different.
Loom is a pop-up global strategy centre that exists to weave together what others keep apart.
There is a THREAD that runs through everything we do.
Trust through honesty
We acknowledge trade-offs and complexity. No easy answers, no false promises.
Human-centred
Public priorities are our starting point. We listen to people challenging how things have been done before. If climate solutions don’t deliver on affordability, jobs, and security, we know they won’t stick.
Real-world strategy
We focus on real choices leaders can make now, not ones that only live on paper, in remote technocratic processes, or with certain ideological factions.
Engaging across divides
We engage people on their values. That’s how we will build connections and support with people from right across the political spectrum, and with practitioners and leaders in governments and industry.
Agile by design
As a pop-up, Loom is nimble, time-limited, and focused on breakthroughs, not bureaucracy.
Dismantling silos
Our work connects expertise across the environment, economy, technology, national security, and politics so we break down silos.
We’re here to connect the dots others miss — and to help decision-makers build and implement strategies that are not only ambitious, but that work.
This substack newsletter will now be the place our team will post updates about what’s on the Loom.
